Betsy Gregson
Betsy has been employed with the City of Huntington since July 1998. She is a graduate of the Certified Public Manager Program at Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches and comes to the City with more than 25 years of experience.
Betsy is dedicated to the City of Huntington and her community. She is a member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association where she served as President of the Pineywoods Chapter for five years, currently enrolled in the Texas Registered Municipal Clerks Program through North Texas University, Denton.
She is a member of The American Society of Public Administrators, American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers, Huntington Economic Development Board Member, Angelina County Trails Committee Member, serving on the Centennial Park Board and a member of Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ.
The City Secretary is a member of the Administrative Staff and responsible for:
- Assisting Mayor, Council and City Manager.
- Attending City Council meetings, taking minutes, posting agendas.
- Maintaining Ordinances, city records, all contracts, deeds and other official documents of the city.
- Process public information request and records management.
- Maintaining grant records, writing and administration of grants not contract.
- Coordinate with the Schools and County on all City elections, training of election personnel and holding early voting and elections for the City of Huntington.
- Assist City Manager with budget preparation, sales tax and ad valorum tax issues.
- Responsible for Human Resources / Personnel files/ hiring process.
- Maintain all insurance policies and claims for the City.
- Issue permits, mobile home, alcohol, vendor, solicitation.
- Oversee financial records of the City, City Banking Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, Bonds, Revenue and Expense Reports, Federal and State Reports.

- Developing, implementing, and maintain utility and financial accounting system.
