Judge Denman

Judge Denman was born in 1951 in Pasadena, Texas to Huntington native Marshall Neal Denman and Betty Ellen Baker Denman. He was raised in Webster, Texas and graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1969. He attended Texas A&M University as a Physical Education major but dropped out after the first year taking a job as a dispatcher for the Webster Police Department. He was a member of the first graduating class of the Tri-County Police Academy at College of the Mainland in Texas City and accepted a job offer as Patrol Officer and Ambulance Attendant in Rockdale, Texas. In October of 1971, he became a Police Officer for the City of Lufkin working his way up the ranks to the position of Lieutenant. He spent 35 years with Lufkin PD, the last 11 years as Media Liaison and Crime Stoppers Coordinator. After retiring in 2006, he was asked to be the Appeals Hearing Officer for the newly installed red light camera system in Lufkin. He also took a part-time job with Lufkin Country Club so he could play golf more frequently. In October of 2008 he accepted the job of Municipal Judge for the City of Huntington.

Judge Denman is married to Teresa Cline Fussell Denman who teaches a computer program for Kindergarteners at Huntington Elementary School. They have two sons, Derek, who lives in San Antonio with his wife, Maneola, and daughter, Isabella, and Jacob, who lives in Huntington with his wife, April, and children, Adam, Matthew, Anna, and Luke.

In addition to golf, in his spare time Judge Denman is a member of The CrimeStoppers Band playing keyboards, harmonica, and vocals. He is an Advisory Board member of Crime Stoppers of Lufkin, Inc. He is also President of the Bay Area Personal Watercraft Association (BAPWA) and he and his wife enjoy jet skiing with the club. He is a certified Boating Education Instructor and Area Chief for Texas Parks and Wildlife and teaches a course to teenagers about jet skis at W.A.D.E. (Water Activities Day Education) twice each summer at Clear Lake in Houston. He also teaches 3rd grade and 8th grade students in the Junior Achievement program in Angelina County. He is Lay Leader at Homer United Methodist Church and also sings in the choir. He is a graduate of Leadership Lufkin and former President of the Angelina County Historical Commission. He enjoys playing Xbox and Wii games with his grandchildren, sports, history, and old Western movies.
